The SB-5 features a passive design with an integrated input cable that connects to the headphone out via a flexible 1.5m cable terminated with a standard 3.5mm stereo connector. The cable is secured with a clamping strain relief and wrapped using the sidewinder cleat for easy storage. Inside, the unbalanced stereo signal is sent to a pair of custom wound transformers that balance the signals for long cable runs (up to 100 meters) without noise. The transformers also isolate the computer from the PA system to eliminate hum and buzz caused by ground loops, and a ground lift switch further reduces ground contamination. An -15dB input pad can be engaged to reduce sensitivity and connect high-output sources without distortion.
